The Times Top 50 is a single, unranked list recognising UK employers making significant, measurable progress in gender equality across all levels of their organisation. While there are no sub-divided categories, entries are assessed across several criteria, including:

  • Strategy & Accountability: Depth, clarity, and intersectionality of the gender equality roadmap.
  • Pay & Reward: Evidence of action to close gender pay gaps and ensure fair compensation.
  • Progression & Leadership: Support for women and other genders into leadership and key roles.
  • Culture & Experience: Inclusivity of workplace culture, including flexible working, support for carers, and harassment prevention.
  • Data & Monitoring: Quality, transparency, and use of data to track impact and progress over time.

How to Enter

To apply for consideration:

  1. Register: Request an entry link via the official application page or by emailing TimesTop50@bitc.org.uk.
  2. Complete the questionnaire: Fill in the online form covering your organisation’s policies, practices, and progress on gender equality.
  3. Submit evidence: Provide anonymised data and supporting information to demonstrate measurable action and impact.
  4. Assessment: BITC’s experts review entries against set criteria, with possible requests for clarification.
  5. Notification & fee: If selected, your organisation will be notified and included in the Top 50 list. A listing fee applies only to successful organisations; entry itself is free.
